Want to learn how to recover deleted photos and videos on Instagram? If your videos or photos are deleted on Instagram, you can still get them back!
- Update your Instagram to the latest version!
- Once you have a deleted photo or video you want to recover, either from your posts or from your stories, go to the button with three horizontal lines on the top right of your account page (i.e. the basic page on the bottom right showing all of your posts and stories)
- Press the “Settings” button (should be visible on the top of the list)
- On the “Settings” page, press the “Account” page button
- On the “Account” page, you should see an option for “Recently Deleted.” Press this option
- On the top there will be two pages: your feed posts, and your story posts (feed on the top left, stories on the top right)
- Similarly, to your “garbage can” icon on your computer (if you have a Mac), the feed posts and story posts on the “Recently Deleted” page will display your deleted posts or stories from the last 30 days (after 30 days they will be deleted completely)
- Pick a post or a story from either “posts” or “stories” in “Recently Deleted,” and click on it
- Once you are viewing the post you want to restore, click on the three dots in the top right corner
- You should see three options: “Delete,” “Restore,” or “Cancel”
- Pressing “Restore” will put the post back on your profile, where other users can see and interact with it (your deleted/restored post). Once restored, the post will no longer appear on your “Recently Deleted” page. Note: Restoring a post will not make it appear again on other users’ home page feeds, but the restored post will be visible on your account page
- Getting the Perfect Frame Sizing and Proportions on Your Instagram Posts: How to Resize Your Photo to Fit Instagram Without Cropping
You can also learn how to resize your photo to fit Instagram without cropping! If you want to get around Instagram’s pesky sizing/cropping limitations, you can try a number of different tools and apps. I like Snapseed (it’s free for iPhone users). In all honesty I’ve been using this app to resize and edit my photos for Instagram since I was in high school! Here’s how to resize your image with Snapseed.
- Download and open Snapseed
- In the home page, press the “Open” button on the top left
- Choose the “Open from Device” option, and select a photo you want to edit from your camera roll
- On the bottom part of the screen, choose “Tools”
- Select the “Expand” option
- You can now ‘expand’ your chosen image left, right, up, or down, to your desired proportion! Select the check mark button on the bottom right when completed
- If you want to smooth over some of the computer-generated edits, go to “Tools” again and select “Healing”
- By putting your finger over some of the side detailing (which “Expand” may awkwardly computer-generate), you can improve the quality of your final image.
- Check your final image in the “Crop” bar to see if your final image fits the Instagram standards.
